Forgotten skills

Burning CDs used to be a popular way to create custom music playlists files in the 2000s. With a blank CD and a computer equipped with a CD burner, people could easily compile their favorite songs and burn them onto the CD. This process allowed people to personalize their music collections, often creating mix CDs as gifts or for personal enjoyment. Software like Windows made it straightforward to select songs, drag them into a “burning” list, and finalize the process. However, burning CDs took time and required careful attention, as too much data could ruin the disc.

Today, digital apps like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music have completely transformed how people access and share music. Instead of physically burning a CD, users can create and share playlists instantly through these platforms. Cloud storage also means that people don’t have to worry about storage limits or damage to physical media, as everything is saved online.
